Burntide Official Website › How it works
How Does Burntide Work? ACV and BHB Ketones
Burntide works through two ingredients: acetic acid from apple cider vinegar and the ketone BHB.
Acetic acid had modest effects on post-meal glucose in controlled trials, and BHB acts as fuel and a signalling molecule. Both were studied at doses larger than a 525 mg blend.
Written from the research rather than from the sales page, with each study linked where it is used.
What happens when you take a Burntide gummy
One chew, 525 mg, and two proposed routes.
Start with what actually happens, because it is short. You chew one gummy about half an hour before a meal. It weighs 2.5 g, of which 525 mg is the blend. The gummy dissolves, the contents are absorbed, and roughly two grams of sugar and eight calories go with them.
That is the entire physical event. Everything else on this page is about what those 525 mg might plausibly do, and the honest answer involves two mechanisms and two dose gaps.
The vinegar mechanism
Acetic acid slows gastric emptying and blunts the glucose rise after a carbohydrate meal. That is why the label says to take it before eating rather than after. Johnston 2004 found improved insulin sensitivity to a high-carbohydrate meal, and Kondo 2009 found small body weight and fat mass reductions over twelve weeks.
The ketone mechanism
Beta-hydroxybutyrate is made by your liver from fat when carbohydrate is short. It fuels muscle and brain, and it also acts on gene expression as a signalling metabolite (Newman and Verdin 2017). Taken as a supplement it raises circulating ketones (Yu 2023) and can suppress appetite hormones (Stubbs 2018).
Where they meet
The sales page argues that acting on blood sugar response and on cellular fuel at the same time is better than acting on either alone. That is a reasonable hypothesis. It has not been tested in this combination, at this dose, in this format, by anyone.
The honest limits of how Burntide works
Four mechanisms, four dose gaps, in one table.
This is the part most pages leave out, so it gets its own section with the numbers in a table. The research on both ingredients is real. The doses are not the doses in this product.
| Mechanism | Dose in the research | Format in the research | Available here |
|---|---|---|---|
| Acetic acid, glucose response | About 750 to 1,500 mg of acetic acid daily | Liquid vinegar, 15 to 30 ml, diluted in water | Part of a 525 mg blend |
| Acetic acid, body composition | 30 ml daily for 12 weeks | Liquid vinegar | Part of a 525 mg blend |
| Ketone elevation | 10 to 25 g in one serving | Ketone ester drink or multi-gram salt drink | Part of a 525 mg blend |
| Appetite suppression | About 25 g as a ketone ester | A single drink, measured over hours | Part of a 525 mg blend |
Put plainly: the whole blend is smaller than the acetic acid in one tablespoon of vinegar, and it is twenty to fifty times smaller than the ketone doses that moved anything in a lab. Anyone telling you a gummy this size reproduces those findings is guessing, and the label itself never says it does.
What is left when you take the overclaim away. A small, consistent, easy-to-keep daily habit, taken before a meal, that costs between $1.63 and $2.97 a day. Whether that is worth it is a real question with a real answer, and it is the question the cost page is built around.
Why Burntide is taken before a meal
The instruction on the jar follows the research rather than convenience.
The timing instruction is the most evidence-led thing on the label and it is the first thing people change. Thirty minutes before a meal is when acetic acid has been dosed in the trials that found a glucose effect, because the effect is on what happens to the meal that follows.
Take it after eating and you are outside the design of every study behind the ingredient. Take it on an empty stomach with no meal coming and there is nothing for it to act on. The glass of water is there partly for comfort and partly because concentrated vinegar preparations have caused injury when they lodged in the oesophagus (Hill 2005).
The other reason to keep the timing is that a fixed anchor is what makes a daily supplement survive past week two. Attached to breakfast it is a habit. Taken whenever you remember, it is a jar that goes out of date.
What Burntide cannot do, mechanically
Three things no gummy at this dose is able to achieve.
Three things a 525 mg daily gummy cannot do, stated so nobody has to infer them.
It cannot create a calorie deficit
Weight change is driven by energy balance over time. Nothing in this jar changes what you eat or how much you move, and the seller's own third bonus guide is about exactly those things.
It cannot induce ketosis
Ketosis follows carbohydrate restriction or gram-scale ketone dosing. This blend is half a gram, split four ways. Blood ketones will not move meaningfully.
It cannot correct a mineral shortfall
Calcium 1 mg and magnesium 0.75 mg both print zero percent Daily Value. If you need minerals, take minerals.
The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements publishes a thorough review of weight-loss supplement ingredients and how little most of them do (the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements). It is the single most useful thing a buyer in this category can read, and we link it here rather than hoping you do not.
How long Burntide takes, on the evidence available
Five periods, what buyers report in each, and what to do.
If it is going to do anything for you, it will do it on a schedule that looks like this. The dates are from the published reviews and from the distributor's own reported average wait.
| Period | What is reported | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Days 1–3 | You learn whether you can keep the routine One gummy, roughly half an hour before a meal, with a glass of water. Most people report nothing beyond the taste. If a sweet chew before breakfast does not fit your morning, you have found that out for about nine dollars. | Fix the timing. Same meal, every day |
| Week 1 | Nothing measurable, and the reviews agree Not one of the eight published reviewers wrote at day seven. The earliest is day 16. The recurring criticism in the set is specifically that week one was quiet. | Do not judge it. Nobody in the review set did |
| Weeks 2–4 | The window most buyers describe The distributor puts the most common wait at three to four weeks, and the earliest review on file is day 16. This is where a jar is either worth reordering or not. | Start paying attention. Note energy and appetite, not the scale |
| Weeks 5–8 | The decision point, and the refund deadline The guarantee runs 60 days from purchase. Day 60 falls in week nine, so a jar bought on day one should be judged well before it. Five of the eight reviewers wrote between day 26 and day 43. | Decide, and use the guarantee if the answer is no |
| Beyond week 8 | Outside the window The six-jar pack is 180 days of gummies and the guarantee is 60. Everything after day 60 is product you have already decided to keep. | Only relevant if you already decided yes |
Two practical notes. Judge appetite and steadiness of energy rather than weight, because those are what the mechanism could plausibly touch and weight moves for a dozen unrelated reasons. And write down when you started, because the sixty-day refund window runs from the purchase date, not from the day the parcel arrived.
